In a large pot, cover potatoes with water with a sprinkle of salt. Bring to a boil and cook until totally soft. In about 15 - 20 minutes, drain and return potatoes to the pot.
Use a potato masher to mash potatoes until smooth.
In a small pot melt butter and milk until warm.
Pour over potatoes and stir until completely combined.
Add in the sour cream and ranch and stir to combined.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Top with melted butter and parsley.
